GRINDING AND PARTICLE SIZE ANALYSIS

PRACTICAL 1
TITLE: GRINDING AND PARTICLE SIZE ANALYSIS
AIM: TO DETERMINE THE EFFICIENCY OF A BALL MILL
APPARATUS AND THEIR USES:
500g of crushed limestone.
A ball mill with steel balls: it is a powered machine used for grinding the crushed mineral. It reduces the limestone to about 10-300 micron.
A generator: it powers the ball mill and the weighing machine.
Analytical weighing machine: used for taking the mass of the particles from sieves of different size.
Laboratory sieve: it is used for classifying the particles into different sizes. We have sieves with screen size 2000,1180, 600, 425, 300, 212, 63, 38, pan.
A hand brush for clearing the ground particles on the inner walls of the ball mill.

PROCEDURE FOR THE EXPERIMENT:
The already crushed limestone is fed into the ball mill for further liberation. The ball mill grinds it for 10minutes, powered by a standby generator.
After 10 minutes, the ground limestone is poured out and the walls of the ball mill, is cleared with the aid of the hand brush.
The ground limestone is placed on the weighing machine where a mass of 420g which is our feed size is obtained.
The ground limestone of mass 420g is fed into the sieves with sizes arranged in the order of 2000,1180,600,425,300,212,63,38,pan. The pan is shaking so that the particles will move gradually down to the pan; duration about 20-30 minutes.
The particles left on each sieve (over size), is poured out and weighed so as to obtain the weight retained.

OCCUPATION IN NIGERIA

                              OCCUPATION IN NIGERIA
Occupation known to us can be said to be activities which people engage themselves in order to earn a living .The battle of survival in our present day society is not by any means easy. Human beings have unlimited wants while the resources which are meant to satisfy these wants are limited. In order to satisfy these wants people engage themselves in occupations at least to meet up with the three basic needs of man which are CLOTHING,FOOD,SHELTER.

ADVERTISING (Commerce)

ADVERTISING
 Advertising as commerce.

Advertising is concerned with the introduction of a product or services to the prospective customer or consumer.

Advertising points out the quality of the product and the characteristics of the product when companies produce similar products they distinguish there own product by qualifying the best example: close-up ,macleans ,sensodyne ,dabour herbal etc. They are all the same product but different manufacturers .Advertising is therefore a means where by the manufacturers tells or educate their prospective buyers about there products. It creates awareness and builds up a good image of the product so that customers will buy the product.

Nano Composites and their Applications

ABSTRACT

Nanocomposites, a high performance material exhibit unusual property combinations and unique design possibilities. With an estimated annual growth rate of about 25% and fastest demand to be in engineering plastics and elastomers, their potential is so striking that they are useful in several areas ranging from packaging to biomedical applications. In this unified overview the three types of matrix nanocomposites are presented underlining the need for these materials, their processing methods and some recent results on structure, properties and potential applications, perspectives including need for such materials in future space mission and other interesting applications together with market and safety aspects. Possible uses of natural materials such as clay based minerals, chrysotile and lignocellulosic fibers are highlighted. Being environmentally friendly, applications of nanocomposites offer new technology and business opportunities for several sectors of the aerospace, automotive, electronics and biotechnology industries.

                                                               INTRODUCTION
NANO COMPOSITES
Nanomaterials
Nanomaterials describe, in principle, materials of which a single unit is sized (in at least one dimension) between 1 and 1000 nanometres (10−9 meter) but is usually 1—100 nm (the usual definition of nanoscale    [1]).
Nanomaterials research takes a materials science-based approach to nanotechnology, leveraging advances in materials metrology and synthesis which have been developed in support of microfabrication research. Materials with structure at the nanoscale often have unique optical, electronic, or mechanical properties.
Nanocomposite is a multiphase solid material where one of the phases has one, two or three dimensions of less than 100 nanometers (nm), or structures having nano-scale repeat distances between the different phases that make up the material. In the broadest sense this definition can include porous media, colloids, gels and copolymers, but is more usually taken to mean the solid combination of a bulk

POEM :#JeSuisMoi

For centuries, we have bent to their cruelty
Like a slave to her master's loyalty
We have cried them tears and bled them blood
Knelt at their toes, called them brother and called them Lord

But no more we say, no more
We will bare our chests of the shirts they tore
We will tear the threads with which our mouths were sown
We will scream of pain in the loudest tone

Let them throw dynamites at our feet
And pile our headless bodies in their pits
Let them slit our throats like cows in the slaughter
And deride in their evil laughter

POEM : MOTHERLY LOVE

All your bones you broke
Screaming and wailing as I caused you pain
In one loud cry of inexplicably sweet pain
You gave birth to love

Every morning, you smiled at me
Yet I'd bite at your breast
You'd bathe, feed and sing me a song
But I'd still cry you up in the midnight

I recall when you'd buy me very nice toys
Yet I'd still break your favorite plate
You'd buy me the most fashionable wears
And I'd still soil your sweetest gown

Poem # hardwork

I had always been too scared to walk too far
I always thought it would leave a scar
I always thought my feet would fail me
I had always been too scared to see

I had always been eager to give my best
I always thought I couldn't do the rest
I always thought my best was enough
I had always been too scared to have it rough

I had always been too scared to take the risk
I always thought I didn't have to frisk
I always thought I had no inner grenade
I had always been too scared to leave the shade

I had always thought everything had limits
I always thought of that point I couldn't meet
I always thought there was a high standard
I had always been too scared to work that hard

But now I know better
There's no such thing as too far
There are no limits
Except the ones you're yet to meet
No best is enough
Because you're that tough
History is written by the winners
Achievements are made by hard workers

THE ELECTRICAL BEHAVIOUR OF RECTIFIERS AND AMPLIFIERS:

THE ELECTRICAL BEHAVIOUR OF RECTIFIERS AND AMPLIFIERS:
Definition  of Rectifier
A rectifier is simply an electrical device composed of one or more diodes that converts alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). A diode is like a one-way valve that allows an electrical current to flow in only one direction. This process is called rectification.
A rectifier can take the shape of several different physical forms such as solid-state diodes, vacuum tube diodes, mercury arc valves, silicon-controlled rectifiers and various other silicon-based semiconductor switches.
Rectifiers are used in various devices, including:
DC power supplies
Radio signals or detectors
A source of power instead of generating current
As flame rectification to detect the presence of flame
High-voltage direct current power transmission systems
Several household appliances use power rectifiers to create power, like notebooks or laptops, video game systems and televisions.
A rectifier is an electrical device that converts AC to DC. AC occasionally reverses direction and DC flows in one direction only. Rectification produces a type of DC that encompasses active voltages and currents, which are then adjusted into a type of constant voltage DC, although this varies depending on the current's end-use. The current is allowed to flow uninterrupted in one direction, and no current is allowed to flow in the opposite direction.
Almost all rectifiers contain more than one diode in particular arrangements.

A TERM PAPER ON THE USES OF CONDUCTORS

QUESTION
What are the Uses of Conductors?

CHAPTER 1
Answers
What are Conductors?
In Physics and Electrical engineering, a conductor is an object or type of material that allows the flow of electrical current in one or more directions. A metal wire is a common electrical conductor.
Conductors are materials that electrons to flow freely from particle to particle. An object made of a conducting material will permit charge to be transferred across an entire surface of the object.
Metal conductors such as copper, aluminum and semi alloys(mixture of two or more metals) e.g brass, phosphor-bronze and manganin are widely used in electrical and electronic circuits.
In electrical and electronic circuits and components, conductors are materials that allow electric current to flow through them because their atomic structure lets the outermost electrons move easily from one atom to another and because the electrons carry a negative electric charge they are easily repelled by a negative charge and attracted by a positive charge. Therefore applying a voltage between the two ends of a conductor causes an electron drift from negative to positive giving rise to an electric current.
Suitable materials act as conductors:
1)    Most metals
2)    Some Gases
3)    Solutions of Acids, Alkalis and salt in water.

A SIWES REPORT ON STEPS INVOLVED IN BUILDING A BUNGALOW

      JOBS DONE / EXPERIENCE GAINED
On my first day at the workshop, I was first given a rundown of the workshop safety rules and regulations. I took time to peruse through, and understand, this safety rules. I was also introduced to the management and various departments in the company, after which i was shown equipment and machines.
     Site Safety Rules
Safety is an important consideration in any construction site work but i was made to understand that on a site with a high rise building, extra safety if on crucial importance and should be everyone primary concern because construction of buildings at a great height can be a dangerous activity. Safety is based on knowledge, skill and an attitude of care and concern. Thus safety factors includes all the measures carried out to protect both the worker, consultant, contractor and all persons present on the site at every given time from fatalities and injuries, and as well as minimize or eliminate all possible construction hazards.

INTRODUCTION TO SIWES(Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme) AND ITS IMPORTANCE

1. ABOUT SIWES
SIWES stands for acronym for Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme.
The Student Industrial Work-Experience Scheme (SIWES) is a planned and supervised training intervention based on stated and specific learning and career objectives, and geared towards developing the occupational competencies of the participants. It is a programme required to be undertaken by all students of tertiary institutions in Nigeria pursuing courses in “specialized engineering, technical, business, applied sciences and applied arts”. The federal government on 8th October 1971 established the industrial training (ITF) in order to acquaint the students on the industrial work method. The SIWES which is a subsidiary formed in 1973 was initiated to improve the students’ technical abilities to expose them to industrial culture thereby getting the acquainted with the role to play towards the technological advancement of the nation. It creates an avenue on environment in which the students are being exposed to areas of their various disciplines which enhances their mental and creative minds in the aspects of technology and development.
