                              OCCUPATION IN NIGERIA
Occupation known to us can be said to be activities which people engage themselves in order to earn a living .The battle of survival in our present day society is not by any means easy. Human beings have unlimited wants while the resources which are meant to satisfy these wants are limited. In order to satisfy these wants people engage themselves in occupations at least to meet up with the three basic needs of man which are CLOTHING,FOOD,SHELTER.


EXTRACTIVE OCCUPATION
This occupation involves people whose activities are directed to the process of bringing out raw materials from the soil and sea. The outcome of the extraction are called raw materials. It is also the early stage of production known as primary production. These are some  activities carried out int this stage of occupation : fishing ,farming,forestry,hunting, mining etc.

MANUFACTURING OCCUPATIONS
Workers involved in this stage of occupation engage in changing the raw material extracted from the soil or sea into finished goods. In this stage the raw materials are converted to usable or meaningful good for use.

CONSTRUCTIVE OCCUPATIONS
This stage of occupation ,workers here involve or engage in assembling different components extracted and the manufacturing industries the workers will construct them into organized whole.

COMMERCIAL OCCUPATIONS
This involves the people that work in groups as a team to make production of goods and services possible and available to those who need them.
Namely:
 Insurance- This contributes in the reduction of risks associated witj the production and distribution of goods and services.

Finance and banking: This is an institution that manages and makes money available for production of goods and services.

Trade: This is exchange. Buying and selling of manufactured goods and services from one place to another.

DIRECT SERVICES
This includes those whose economic activities involves going, giving satisfaction ,amusement enjoyment and rendering services to others. These services rendered are regarded as parts of production since they satisfy human wants. Those who render these services are paid directly by those who enjoy there services.

INDIRECT SERVICE
This involves those who earn their living by rendering one type of service or another to member of the public. There will be disorder in the society if there are no persons to make and enforce laws. One common thing about these worker is that they are not paid directly by those who enjoy  there services rather they are paid indirectly by members of the public by taxes paid. They render essential services . They include Teacher, Police, Civil servants, Doctors who work in state owned hospitals, Armed forces, Nurses etc.
