POEM : MOTHERLY LOVE
All your bones you broke
Screaming and wailing as I caused you pain
In one loud cry of inexplicably sweet pain
You gave birth to love
Every morning, you smiled at me
Yet I'd bite at your breast
You'd bathe, feed and sing me a song
But I'd still cry you up in the midnight
I recall when you'd buy me very nice toys
Yet I'd still break your favorite plate
You'd buy me the most fashionable wears
And I'd still soil your sweetest gown
Always you wanted me to see the light But I'd always want to play in the dark
You'd cry yourself to sleep in prayer
Still I did everything you'd want me not to
For years I continued like this
And even now, I'm not so sure I've passed it
But you've always been here for me
Every step of the way
Caring for me without restraint
Praying for me without ceasing
Loving me unconditionally
My angel, my sweet heart, my mother.
